Rivers and lakes, streams and ponds
Marching water! Many Velociped bike tours lead along bodies of water, which promises quick cooling in summer on the one hand and mostly flat cycle routes on the other. Perfect.
Which one will you choose? Views into the blue are guaranteed.
Along the beautiful blue Danube
When it comes to blue, the Danube immediately springs to mind, which Velociped has in different variations in its program: From the source to Donauwörth, from Passau to Vienna as a long-distance cycle tour, by bike and boat or as a farmhouse tour, as a stroll tour, as a sporty tour, as a tour with charm in selected beautiful hotels, etc. The cycle route from Vienna to Budapest or star cycle tours are also included in the program.
Rivers
River cycle paths are extremely popular due to their low to non-existent gradients and the many sights along the way. In most cases, people settled on the banks centuries or millennia ago, which still provides us with some interesting things to look at today. Many slopes to the left and right of the river banks are also known for their good wines: Whether the Rhine, Tauber, Moselle, Main, Danube or Elbe, wine is cultivated on each of these rivers and tempts you to enjoy a leisurely tasting after a day's cycling.
But these are just the best-known river tours. Cycle with Velociped along the Franconian-Bavarian Altmühl, along the Ruhr through a surprisingly green Ruhr area, along the Weser from the kiss of the Werra and Fulda rivers in Hann. Münden to the sea in Cuxhaven. The Lahn attracts with its half-timbered towns, nature reserves and floodplain landscapes, the Werra from the Rennsteig down to the three-river town of Hann. Along the Neckar you will discover romantic towns such as Marbach, Tübingen and Heidelberg. From Weimar, you can embark on star bike tours, including along the Ilm. The Ilm, Saale and Unstrut rivers can also be visited as part of a three-river tour.
Last but not least, you can cycle along the Inn through the Austrian countryside and to the Golden Roof in Innsbruck. You can visit the Dutch section of the Meuse by bike and boat from Maastricht to Amsterdam.
Lakes in Germany
In addition to these great cycle routes on flowing waters, the cycle routes around the lakes are also interesting: for example, cycle around the three-country sea of Lake Constance! This tour is available in many different versions: as a star bike tour, as a stroll tour - also available in a De Luxe version - as a sporty tour, a family tour or simply as a classic.
But it doesn't always have to be Lake Constance:
In Germany, the Mecklenburg Lake District or Lake Starnberg in Bavaria are also tempting. The latter is smaller and particularly pretty with the Alps in the background. It is also part of the Munich Lakes Tour, on which you will cycle to several bodies of water. The Allgäu Lakes, Bavarian Lakes Tour and Chiemsee are also great cycling regions and tours - it's definitely Bavarian white and blue here.
Lakes in Europe
The Austro-Hungarian Lake Neusiedl, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and national park, attracts visitors with its wonderfully flat cycle routes, cycle ferries across the lake, puszta, vineyards, cellar alleys and stork nests.
In the Austrian Salzkammergut, you can even go on a 10-lake tour. Which of the ten do you like best? Find out for yourself. Rather sparkling or rather turquoise?
The Masurian Lake District in Poland is also perfect for cyclists. On the Velociped cycle tour, you can visit this idyllic region by bike and boat.
Bella Italia and Switzerland
There is a radial tour on Lake Garda in Italy with its Mediterranean climate and plenty of water sports options, while Velociped offers a radial bike tour on the magnificent Lake Maggiore in the Swiss canton of Ticino.
Whatever you choose, lake or river, stream or pond, when it comes to water, Velociped has a wide variety of cycle tours in its program to satisfy everyone: radial bike tours, tours with bike and boat or simply classic long-distance bike tours - and all in different variations. Now all you have to do is choose your favorite river or lake. Have fun!
