Silent. Enchanted. Legendary
Cycling vacation on the Lahn
We have put together an extensive offer, with something for every taste. By bike, you are always close by on the Lahn Cycle Path. Where tradition and modern life meet, your cycling holiday becomes an exciting journey of discovery. I wonder what's around the next bend? An idyllic river oasis, a mysterious castle or even a cyclists' picnic in the shade of the trees? Surprising insights and views are strung together like pearls on a necklace, making the Lahn Valley one of the most interesting cycling regions in Germany. From its source to its mouth over 235 km (altitude difference 600 m), the Lahn makes all cyclists' hearts beat faster. Whether it's a short trip or a relaxing week, as a local tour operator we can fulfil all your travel wishes.
Lahn cycle path close to nature
From the source in the Rothaargebirge mountains to the mouth of the Rhine, you can enjoy 235 kilometers of excellent cycling along the Lahn. The route is mostly gently sloping, there are some climbs, but you can avoid them.
Variety!
Whether it's Limburg Cathedral or the Elisabeth Church in historic Marburg, the Renaissance castle in Weilburg or the Marburg Landgrave's Palace, it's the variety that makes it. Even those who like cute half-timbered villages will find what they are looking for here. The emperor's spa Bad Ems is home to a baroque spa house, a fountain and an amusement arcade. The disused iron ore mine Grube Fortuna is worth a visit. Last but not least, there are plenty of museums along the way: Mushroom Museum, Wood Technology Museum, Radio Museum or Diocesan Museum, to name just a few.
Cultural
The classical music fan will of course visit the Lottehaus in the Goethe town of Wetzlar, where Goethe was almost a permanent guest in the summer of 1772 and wrote his experiences in "The Sorrows of Young Werther". In Marburg, the Hessisches Landestheater offers performances, while the Waggonhalle is more about music. In summer, various festivals take place: the Lahn Festival "Against the Current", the Lahneck Live Culture Festival, the Lahnsteiner Blues Festival, etc.
Varied culinary delights
Student pubs in Marbug or cozy country inns in half-timbered towns, restaurants with international cuisine in the university town of Marburg or the fish market in Wetzlar ... The range is wide. Typically, one dines on Limburg Edelsäcker, a cutlet filled with sauerkraut, or fish from the Lahn River such as carp, tench, pike perch or perch, and drinks the local wine, mostly Pinot Noir, Riesling or Müller Thurgau, which is grown in steep vineyards.
Nature and sustainability
On the Lahn, sustainable tourism development is cultivated and promoted, and that is a good thing. Salmon and sea trout are to become native here again. For this reason, fish ladders have been built and salmon breeding stations have been established. Fauna and flora are numerous, as some nature reserves and landscape protection areas, such as the "Auenverbund Lahn-Dill", border on the Lahn. As the most environmentally friendly means of transport, the bicycle is particularly encouraged. Perfect, therefore, for a cycling vacation close to nature.
