Tour
Arrive in Marburg in good time today and discover the famous Elisabeth Church, the Marburg Landgrave's Castle and, of course, the old town, which is well worth seeing. If you arrive on a Saturday, you can take part in the two-hour guided tour of the city at 3 p.m. and get an optimal overview from a professional hand and certainly also some insider tips!
Today you cycle to the more than 700-year-old Brücker Mühle mill, where you can experience the complex production process from grain to flour during a tour of the running historic mill true to the original. Afterwards, fortify yourself in the idyllic mill yard or on the green sofa in the old pump room. Now it's time to set off again, high up into the historic excursion town of Amöneburg. The ascent is not without effort, but you will be rewarded with a unique panoramic view, a wonderful wall circuit and finally a roaring descent. The return to Marburg on completely flat cycle paths rounds off the first day of the excursion.
In the morning you take the train to Gießen. After a good rest you will arrive at the "Mathematikum", the first mathematical hands-on museum in the world. Here, over 120 exhibits get visitors experimenting: They lay puzzles, build bridges, rack their brains in puzzle games, watch a ball race and much, much more! In the afternoon you can cycle easily and comfortably back to Marburg on the well-maintained Lahn cycle path. On the way, it's worth stopping off at the bathing lake with its beer garden and water-skiing facilities to watch the beginners and advanced skiers make their daring jumps or to take a refreshing dip yourself.
This morning the train takes you comfortably to Bad Laasphe with its unique radio museum in only 54 minutes. Here, only 20 km from the source of the Lahn, the Lahn is still a small river. On secluded paths you follow the Lahn cycle path through lush meadows and gentle valley meadows to Biedenkopf. Here, in the historic walls of the castle, the "Hinterland Museum" awaits you, where the regional and cultural history of the region is vividly presented. With these impressions and refreshments in the castle café, you will whiz back to Marburg.
Almost a cycling-free day, but you won't be able to do entirely without pedalling. In the morning you will need your pedal power to explore the Lahn and Marburg from the water in a pedal boat. Afterwards, you will take a forest walk up to the Spiegelslustturm, the most beautiful viewing terrace over Marburg. From the tower you can enjoy the magnificent panoramic view over the city and the countryside and proudly reconstruct the cycling routes you have mastered over the past few days. The afternoon is at leisure and can be used for further sightseeing or a leisurely stroll through the many winding alleys of the old town.
The next round tour in the bicycle saddle is waiting for you. On varied cycle paths, forest tracks and farm tracks you will once again discover the scenic diversity around Marburg. Your destination for the day, the "Dammühle", is one of the most beautiful restaurants in the hinterland and will delight you with its idyllic beer garden. The "Dammühle" is a historic, listed water mill that has been in the family for more than 300 years. Take in a game of mini-golf and fortify yourself for the return journey, which begins with a short climb (approx. 500 m long). Whether you finally arrive in Marburg early in the afternoon or not until nightfall depends more on the length of your break in the beer garden than on the short climb?
And we have another real highlight for you. You cycle along a former railway line on a romantic cycle path towards your worthwhile destination, Rauischholzhausen Castle and Park. The spacious castle park, an English landscape park of about 30 hectares with almost 300 different tree species, has been under landscape protection since 1956 and was included in the European themed route of the 'European Garden Heritage Network' in 2009. The park, the castle and the nice café will delight you. Your return journey takes you along the beautiful railway line before you say goodbye to all the favourite places in Marburg's old town in the evening.
In the morning your wonderful bicycle tour ends at your hotel in Marburg. We wish you a pleasant journey home.

Condition of the bike paths
The Lahn cycle path leads through charming and varied landscapes with forests, hills, meadows and floodplains. In 2006, the Lahn Valley Cycle Path was one of the first cycle paths in Germany to be awarded 4 out of 5 possible stars by the ADFC. Among other things, it was assessed for its navigability, signposting, safety and tourist infrastructure. You cycle on mostly flat, asphalted cycle and hiking paths away from traffic, with only occasional small climbs to contend with. The individual day trips are well and uniformly signposted.

Available rental bikes
We would recommend the 7-speed tourer for all those that are looking for a back-pedal brake and wide gel seat for maximum comfort in an upright sitting position. It is equipped with a simple hub gear shift and is perfectly suited to tours on flat to slightly hilly terrain.
The 27-speed tourer is the best choice for cyclists that value the advantages of the dérailleur gear shift for flexibility whilst going up and down hills. This bike allows you to be a little more active without compromising on saddle comfort and practical everyday suitability.
E-bikes combine a lot of advantages. The electric drive ensures a completely relaxed cycling, even during long tours or on hilly routes. Other features, such as a suspension seat post and front fork plus well-tuned gears, ensure additional riding comfort.
