Travel report Potsdam radial tour

Cycling has been a passion of mine since my childhood, when I discovered nature on cycling vacations with my family.
Today, I start our own bike tour with a friend – an ideal mix of adventure and relaxation. For me, there is hardly anything better: experiencing the fresh air and the surroundings in a very special way.
What's special about the Potsdam radial tour is that there's no need to change hotels every day, no chaotic packing and the stages can be flexibly adapted. You can also sleep a little longer here.

Between adventure and enjoying nature

Welcome in Potsdam!

After the long drive, arriving at the Seminaris Seehotel feels like coming to a small place of tranquility. Located directly on the Templiner See, the hotel impresses with its relaxing atmosphere.

The stylish rooms offer a great view of the lake or the surrounding nature – perfect for switching off. In the evening, we enjoy a delicious three-course menu with regional specialties and let the day come to a relaxed close with a glass of wine on the terrace.

A perfect start to our cycling holiday!

Wannsee cycle path

Berlin

Due to heavy rain, we are taking the car to Berlin today. – Just hop from shop to shop.

When we arrive at Alexanderplatz, between the world clock and the television tower, we immediately feel the typical Berlin flair: loud, hectic, a bit dirty.

From there, we continue to the Hackesche Höfe – my favorite corner. Small shops, handmade jewelry and delicious desserts – exactly my thing!

After a long stroll and exploring, there are countless lunch options. Our favorite? A delicious Smashburger from Goldies. Pure Berlin!

Templin Lake and Schwielow Lake

We start the day relaxed, enjoying getting up later and a hearty breakfast to set us up for the first day of cycling. The sun is shining, a light wind is blowing – perfect weather!
The route takes us through sun-drenched forests to the Templiner Vorstadt with its impressive houses and spacious green areas. We continue on a bike path through peaceful nature directly to the shore of Lake Schwielow. Cycling along the sparkling water with a view of the surrounding forests is simply wonderful.
After a short break, we continue on to Caputh and finally to Ferch. A small, dreamy village with a gently rolling landscape.
Arrived at Schwielowsee. Surrounded by nature and water, we enjoy the peace and sun and fortify ourselves with an apple and a few biscuits before continuing our journey.
The way back takes us back to Potsdam, where we cycle through the northern city center. The old town, historic squares and cafés form a beautiful contrast to nature. A highlight is the view of the City Palace and the Nikolaikirche.
A successful day!

Havel and Wannsee + boat trip

Our second day of cycling begins with pain in our bottoms. Oh dear, we're no longer used to long cycling tours. After a delicious breakfast, we get on our bikes and realize: Oh God, we forgot to charge the e-bike batteries. Typical us, just spaced it out. With aching bottoms and hoping that the battery will last, we start and cycle to the historic Glienicke Bridge, a place full of history. From here, the route takes us through the idyllic Nuthepark, whose green landscape allows us to relax after the small start-up difficulties in the morning.
We continue to Wannsee. Along small jetties in the water to our break in the middle of the forest with the water a few meters in front of us, we pass through the northern inner city of Potsdam to our personal highlight of the day: our included boat trip.
On board, we enjoy the view of the famous Potsdam palaces, which are impressively enthroned on the shore, and let ourselves drift with the charm of the Havel. After this relaxing ride, we get on our bikes and tackle the return journey.
This leads us past Sanssouci Palace, whose architecture and extensive gardens form a perfect end to our day.

Round trip Potsdam

Our last day of cycling starts with less buttock pain – lucky us! And we remembered to charge the batteries, which were almost flat yesterday. Delicious breakfast, then on the bike and off to the Dutch Quarter with its characteristic brick facades and winding alleys. The quarter is lively, and the cozy cafes and lovingly furnished boutiques invite you to linger and discover – perfect for a short stop. – perfect for a short stop.
We continue to Babelsberg, where we marvel at the magnificent villas. These impressive buildings tell stories and let us immerse ourselves in a bygone era.
A special highlight of the day are the visits to Cecilienhof and Sanssouci Palaces. Cecilienhof, with its English country house style and historical significance. Cycling in the Sanssouci Palace Park is a special experience. The well-maintained paths run through the extensive park landscape and offer a perfect blend of culture and nature. As we cycle through the avenues, we enjoy unforgettable views.
Impressive views open up again and again: of Sanssouci Palace with its elaborate terraces, the New Palace or the Chinese Pavilion. Every turn of the pedal shows us something new. – We are absolutely thrilled!
With these unforgettable impressions, we return to the hotel and let the evening fade away in the Noidue restaurant. The restaurant serves delicious pizza and other Italian delicacies.
