Tour

Plan enough time for sightseeing in Trier. Even the first day offers plenty of opportunities for exploration and relaxation.

For your excursion to the Saar Loop, we recommend that you first take the train to Mettlach today (duration 41 minutes), because this way you can follow the Saar and Moselle in the direction of the river back to Trier. In the Villeroy & Boch experience center in Mettlach, a world company, a thousand years of history, centuries of tradition and trend-setting home decor await you. From Mettlach we recommend you to change to the left side of the Saar and after about 4 km upstream you cycle in the middle of the famous Saar loop. There you climb the Cloef on foot and enjoy the wonderful view of the Saar loop. Then get back on your bike and cycle along the Saar back to the Moselle. Take a break in Saarburg, a town well worth seeing, before you cycle along the Moselle via Konz back to Trier.

Today you will set off for Trittenheim. On the beautiful, well-maintained Moselle Cycle Path you will first pass the Old Ferry Tower in Schweich to Mehring. There you must not miss a break at the historical remains of the Villa Rustica, before you continue on your way to Trittenheim. For the return trip to Trier, there are three options you can choose from: for the very sporty, you can cycle back to Trier or you can take it easy and board a Moselle boat in Trittenheim and thus return to Trier. Alternatively, you can cycle from Trittenheim on the other bank of the Moselle back to Schweich (20 km), and take the train from there back to Trier.

Today you will leave the bikes and set off on foot for a sightseeing tour of Trier. You will learn about the history of this wonderful city, which was already founded by the Romans and pay a visit to the Porta Nigra, the remains of Roman bathhouses, the stone bridge over the Moselle and many other sights. There is a whole day reserved for you in Trier.

Today you are going up the Moselle. We recommend you start the morning with a train ride to Nennig (duration 40 minutes). Nennig became famous for its Roman villa and its beautiful mosaic floor, which was discovered by a farmer in 1852 while digging a turnip pit. The floor found was probably in a large entrance hall of a magnificent villa urbana of a rich Roman landowner. After visiting the Roman villa, you can take a leisurely bike ride back to Trier (42 km). For the more sporty cyclists there is the following option: in the morning cycle up the Moselle to Nenning and from there continue the cycling trip to Luxembourg City (+32 km). In the evening you can comfortably return to Trier by train (duration 50 minutes).

Time passed too quickly. Trier has much more to offer. Book an extension of your cycling trip in Trier or follow the Moselle cycle path to Koblenz. It's worth it!

The quality of the Moselle bike path is very good. There are practical no unpaved or poorly developed path. The route runs almost exclusively on paved roads and is very well signposted. 7 speed bike

We would recommend the 7-speed tourer for all those that are looking for a back-pedal brake and wide gel seat for maximum comfort in an upright sitting position. It is equipped with a simple hub gear shift and is perfectly suited to tours on flat to slightly hilly terrain.

27 speed bike

The 27-speed tourer is the best choice for cyclists that value the advantages of the dérailleur gear shift for flexibility whilst going up and down hills. This bike allows you to be a little more active without compromising on saddle comfort and practical everyday suitability.

Velociped E-Bike

E-bikes combine a lot of advantages. The electric drive ensures a completely relaxed cycling, even during long tours or on hilly routes. Other features, such as a suspension seat post and front fork plus well-tuned gears, ensure additional riding comfort.
