Incredibly Beautiful

Look forward to the cycling paradise of Lake Constance. The 570 km² large Swabian Sea connects Germany with Austria and Switzerland and is nestled between the lovely panorama of the Alps. On the excellently signposted cycle route and by using the very good boat connections from the Weiße Flotte you discover almost the entire Lake Constance on this bike tour. Marvel at the island of Reichenau, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001 and at the profusion of flowers on the island of Mainau, which is considered a magnet for visitors of Lake Constance. An other great sight is of course the Old Town of Lindau, which is completely located on an island and stands under monument protection since 1976. Explore the small pilgrimage church Birnau, a baroque jewel on Lake Constance and look forward to Salem Monastery and Palace. The impressive ensemble of medieval church and Baroque monastery buildings is a cultural monument of the highest order. Every day offers new surprises. You discover worth seeing places like Stein am Rhein, Überlingen, Meersburg and Friedrichshafen. We promise that you will not be bored at this holiday in Constance and Lake Constance!

This trip is perfect for:

  • One-time packers: With the star bike tour offer, you only need to pack and unpack your suitcase once, as you spend the entire trip in the same accommodation.
  • City lovers: Be enchanted by the small towns along the route.
  • Culture seekers: Your cultural well-being will also be catered for on this trip.

Highlights

Constance

The cultural city is characterized by many historic buildings, such as the "Cathedral of Our Lady of Our Lady", which for twelve centuries was the cathedral of the Bishops of Constance and served as the meeting room of the Council of Constance (1414-1418). The Stadttheater, which is the oldest permanent stage in Germany, 400 years old, is another highlight.

Sea-Life Center Constance
In the SEA LIFE Constance, you will discover a variety of marine life: from curious and protective to rare and enigmatic animals. Many of these animals are on the red list of endangered animals. They have been saved and can not be returned to the natural habitat or have been born and raised as part of the SEA LIFE protection projects in the aquariums.

Tour

Today you will move into your hotel in Constance, whose town remains medieval in character to this day.  In 1414, the town hosted the only church council ever to take place north of the Alps. A small museum is dedicated to the Czech reformer Jan Hus, who was burnt at the stake here. The symbol of the city is the statue of Imperia, which is a memorial to the prostitutes of the council time. The aquariums of the Sea Life Center are also worth a visit, as is the Archaeological Museum.

Today you will travel firstly to Friedrichshafen. From here you will follow along the Lake Constance Cycle Path to Langenargen. You will cycle through well-kept villages such as Wasserburg and Nonnenhorn and you will have numerous opportunities to take a break in a beer garden or at a lakeshore beach. Your destination for the day is Lindau, the Bavarian Metropolis on the Lake. The historical Old Town on an island is a popular attraction for visitors. In the afternoon you will return by boat to Constance.

You will have the whole day for your visit to Mainau Island (Entrance fee not included). The lake’s mild climate means that this island is home to palm trees. Depending on the season, you will be able to find a vast array of different plants in bloom on the island. In the spring, you will spot countless blossoming types of Tulips and Hyacinths. Later in the year, Rhododendrons can be seen in their full beauty. In the months of September and October, you will find both Dahlias and around 30.000 rosebushes.

Today you will first travel to Überlingen on the other side of Lake Constance by boat. The Lake Constance Cycle Path will take you to the pilgrimage church Birnau. From here, follow the Prälaten path to Salem. The castle of the former monastic order is an impressive example of southern German Baroque architecture. From the medieval town of Meersburg, which is home to an old and a new castle, the ferry will take you back to Constance.

The first destination of the day is Reichenau Island, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. From here you will get a boat across to Gaienhofen. Here you will be able to visit the Hermann-Hesse-House. You will then continue cycling along the Höri Peninsula. Stein am Rhein has a number of attractive painted house facades. The last leg of the trip leads you along the Swiss, southern shore of the Lower Lake before returning to Constance.

After breakfast your beautiful holiday ends at the Hotel in Constance. For whose who don't want to leave jet have the possibility to extend their stay.
