Tour
After your arrival, you should use the time for a first walk around Lake Starnberg. If the weather is favourable, you can take your first refreshing dip in Lake Starnberg.
Today you get on your bikes for the first time. First you cycle to the southern shore of Lake Starnberg to Seeshaupt. From there, you cycle along beautiful paths through unspoilt Bavarian villages to the Osterseen lakes and the Riegsee lake. Take a short break there and enjoy the marvellous nature before you make your way to Murnau am Staffelsee, where you will spend the night today.
Today, the cycle path first takes you through the largest moorland area in central Europe, the Murnauer Moos nature reserve. As the stage progresses, you reach the Loisach, which you then follow to your overnight stay in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Today's stage is deliberately kept short, you should make the most of the time and take the Zugspitze railway up to Germany's highest mountain, the Zugspitze (2962 m) (on your own). From up there you have a fantastic view over the foothills of the Alps as far as Munich in the north and the Alps in the south, a highlight of your journey.
After breakfast, you make your way to Klais and on to the picturesque Barmsee lake, which reflects the white-blue sky and the Alps. Here you decide for yourself: Cycle directly to Wallgau, your overnight stay today (approx. 20 km) or take a detour via MIttenwald and Scharnitz to Isaquelle (approx. 70 km). From Barmsee to Scharnitz you have to climb around 300 metres in altitude. From Scharnitz, the route continues gently uphill through wild and romantic gorges and lush alpine meadows to the source of the Isar. On the way back, you can enjoy the marvellous panorama of the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountains before reaching Mittenwald. From there you continue to Wallgau, where Bavarian customs are still alive and well.
On your way to Bad Tölz today, you cycle through the Isarwinkel and follow the crystal-clear, turquoise-blue waters of the Isar to the impressive Sylvensteinsee lake. The route continues through the picturesque Bavarian countryside to Bad Tölz. Two trade routes crossed here - the Isar and the old salt route from Bad Reichenhall to the Allgäu, which quickly turned Bad Tölz into a flourishing trading centre. Even today you can still admire the richly decorated town houses, which bear witness to the heyday of trade in Bad Tölz.
Lake Tegernsee awaits you today: from Bad Tölz you cycle through the picturesque Tegernsee countryside to Gmund am Tegernsee. Enjoy the marvellous lake panorama and treat yourself in one of the beer gardens. Return to Bad Tölz through the Gaißbach valley. Back in Bad Tölz, the Tölzer Marktstraße (market street) invites you to follow in the footsteps of the well-known German TV series "Der Bulle von Tölz".
Your cycle tour of the Bavarian lakes ends with a leisurely stage over gentle hills and through lush meadows, which takes you back to the starting point at Lake Starnberg. Enjoy the views of the Alps along the way, soak up the panorama across the lake and bring your journey to a cosy end in a beer garden on Lake Starnberg. Perhaps the weather will allow you to take a refreshing dip in the lake.
After breakfast, your time at the Bavarian lakes will unfortunately come to an end and you will be travelling home. If you would like to spend a little more time at Lake Starnberg, we will be happy to book extra nights for you.
