Tour
Arrive early to this old trading and harbor town. Enjoy the harbor atmosphere and stroll through the historic alleys with their gas lanterns. Sights in Husum include the castle outside Husum with its gatehouse, the market square with St. Mary's Church, the Tine Fountain and the Old Town Hall.
Perhaps a visit to the Theodor Storm House or the Shipping Museum in Husum before you start pedaling? Enjoy the beautiful cycling routes, take a break in the archeological park Danneberg and take time for Schleswig with the worth seeing Viking museum Haitabu, where you can marvel at an old Viking ship.
On the northern shore of the Schlei you cycle through old fishing villages, past marinas and follow winding paths through the gently hilly vacation region to Kappeln on the Baltic Sea.
Passing large and small, hidden and public bathing spots, you cycle along the southern shore of the Schlei. Look forward to the historic Baltic seaside resort of Eckernförde, which welcomes you with a town hall square worth seeing. Marvel at the wooden bascule bridge (1872), old corner stores, stroll along the 4 km long beach or taste freshly smoked meat directly from the cutter.
Today you have the choice: Cycle to the state capital Kiel and watch the ferries entering and leaving Scandinavia and explore the Kiel Fjord. In the afternoon you cycle back to Eckernförde. You can shorten this stage by train on your own. Alternatively, you can take a rest day at the beach in Eckernförde.
Let the wind blow around your nose and enjoy wonderful cycling routes through the Hüttener Berge Nature Park, whose highest elevation, the Scheelsberg, at 106 m, is hardly a challenge.
In the morning you cycle from Rendsburg to Friedrichstadt. Plan a longer break in this pretty town and stroll through the alleys. Perhaps you will also take a boat trip through the canals? After the worthwhile sightseeing, you will quickly continue to Husum, the starting point of your trip.
Your cycle tour along the Baltic and North Sea ends after breakfast.
