Tour

Arrive early, it's worth it. After being welcomed by your local colleagues, you will be greeted by an exemplary restored old town, which you will get to know on a guided tour. End the evening relaxing in the old town of Warsaw.

After breakfast, a bus will take you to Malbork/Marienburg, where you will visit the largest medieval fortress in Europe, the imposing castle of the Teutonic Knights. In the afternoon, you start your first cycle tour - a scenic and easy route, ideal for getting used to cycling - with Elbląg as your destination. Overnight stay in a hotel in Elbląg/Elbing.

Your day starts today on your bike: you cycle to Frombork/Frauenburg, the city of Nicolaus Copernicus. Once there, you can visit the famous cathedral (optional). The rest of the cycle route offers views of the Vistula Lagoon. Overnight stay in a hotel in Frombork / Frauenburg.

First enjoy your breakfast before taking a bus transfer to Orneta. There you will get on your bikes and cycle to Lidzbark Warmiński/Heilsberg, where you will spend the night today. You should not miss out on a visit to the castle of the Warmian prince-bishops (optional). Overnight stay in a hotel in Lidzbark Warmiński/Heilsberg.

You start the day on your bike: you cycle through many picturesque villages and through a beautiful landscape with lots of chattering storks to Święta Lipka/Heilige Linde. Once there, you can visit the Baroque church and famous pilgrimage church from the 17th century, which is well worth seeing. You can then decide whether to shorten the stage by bus or cycle to Ketrzyn (Rastenburg). Overnight stay in a hotel in Kętrzyn/Rastenburg.

Today the route takes you via Gierłoż, where you have the option of exploring the “Wolf's Lair”, Hitler's former headquarters. Then continue to Wilkasy near Giżycko/Lötzen. Overnight stay in Giżycko/Lötzen.

Today you can choose how you want to spend the day: You can leave the bikes behind and explore Gizycko (Lötzen): Explore the historic Boyen Fortress, an impressive testimony to Prussian fortress architecture, or take a walk to the swing bridge on the Łuczańskie Canal, one of the few swing bridges still active in Europe. Boat trips or relaxing moments on the shores of the Masurian Lakes are also recommended. If you do feel like getting on your bike, you can go on a cycle tour through the enchanting lake landscape around Giżycko/Lötzen (approx. 50 km). The tour runs through beautiful countryside and along numerous lakes.

After breakfast, we take a boat trip (approx. 3 hours) across the picturesque Masurian lakes, which are connected by canals, until we reach the charming little town of Mikołajki/Nikolaiken, also known as the “Venice of the North”. After a tour of the town and a leisurely stroll, we cycle through the Mazurski Park Krajobrazowy to Krutyń/Kruttinnen. Overnight stay in a guesthouse in Krutyń or the surrounding area.

An unforgettable experience on the water awaits you today: a canoe tour on the picturesque Krutynia River, probably the most beautiful river in Masuria. Here you have a choice of many beautiful paddling routes. The calm river is only up to 90 cm deep, so no previous experience is necessary! A hike along Lake Mokre is also recommended. Choose what you would like to do.

After breakfast, you will take a bus transfer to Warsaw, where you can visit the Old Town. Your journey ends at Warsaw Central Station at around 4 pm. You will then depart on your own.

Arrival to Gdansk
The airport in Gdansk-Rebiechowo is about 10 km from the center. From the airport you can take the taxi 9686 (City Plus Taxi) to the hotel (about 20 minutes).

Warszawa-Okecie Airport is about 10 km from the center. It is with shuttle service or taxi to reach quickly. A direct and comfortable train connection is also available directly from Warsaw Central Station.

Condition of cycle paths
The tour runs in different landscapes. Around Malbork and in the highlands, the land is rather shallow (the area is below sea level). Slightly hilly and with gentle gradients (at Elbinger Höhe and in Masuria up to 150 meters) run the other sections of the tour. You cycle mostly on side roads, which can also be busy on shorter sections, but also on sandy roads, field, forest and partly cobblestone roads.

Available rental bikes
This tour includes 7-speed bikes with hub gears and a low step-in. If you would like electric bikes (pedelecs), these can also be booked at a surcharge. All bikes are equipped with 2 luggage bags and a tool set.

You can bring your own bikes on request!

Currency
The currency in Poland is the zloty (also used as the abbreviation PLN), 1 zloty = 100 grosz. In Poland, money can be exchanged at banks, in larger hotels and in exchange offices (Polish: Kantor), although the exchange offices often offer a cheaper exchange rate. No mandatory exchange at the border. Foreign currencies can be carried without restriction. Credit cards such as American Express, EuroCard, MasterCard and others are accepted in many hotels, restaurants and large shops. The acceptance of credit cards is indicated by emblems. However, we recommend that you take enough cash with you for your daily needs, as this is less complicated.

Speedometer
Since the route descriptions indicate the number of kilometers, we recommend that you bring your own speedometer. This will allow you to have a smooth course of the bike tour. However, you can also borrow a good speedometer for a fee: 10 euros/tachometer (along with mounting). Please be sure to note what you might want when you register.

Extra costs which are not included in the travel price
Any tourist tax and charging fees for bicycle batteries are not included in the tour price and must therefore be paid at the hotel.

7 day hotline service
In case of chain breakdown, flooding or other bad surprises that makes a continuation of your tour impossible: no problem, we also work during weekends and you can reach us 7 days a week in case of emergency.

Passport and visa requirements
For EU citizens, there are no special passport or visa requirements and no health formalities to be considered for this trip.

Travel insurance
The tour price already includes the statutory insolvency insurance. In addition, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance upon receipt of your travel confirmation in order to protect yourself against financial disadvantages in the event of travel cancellation, interruption of travel, illness or accident.

Velociped can withdraw from the tour twenty-one days before the starting date of the tour, at the latest, in case the minimum number of participants stated under the tour description is not attained. You will duly be informed without any delay in case of a withdrawal. Velociped will of course refund the paid tour price immediately. Please note our General Terms and Conditions.
