The Sarah is a comfortable and cozy passenger barge. During the conversion of the barge from cargo vessel to passenger barge, the owners of the Sarah decided to choose quality instead of quantity. The Sarah is spaciously built for a small group of passengers and offers an attractive, “feels-like-to-be-at-home” atmosphere. The Sarah sails under Dutch flag. The ship has ten comfortable cabins (10 m² – 108 sq.ft.). There are six twin cabins with two single beds, two twin/triple cabins with two single beds and a bunk bed and two double cabins with one double bed. In one of the twin cabins, on prior request the beds can be set together. Each cabin has a private shower, toilet and basin.

The cabins all have a ventilation system, central heating and windows that can be opened. Furthermore, you will find a mini safe and hair dryer in each cabin. The corridor is air-conditioned, thus also cooling the cabins. On the upper deck of the Sarah you will find the cozy air conditioned open lounge with large windows, a TV, a dining area and a bar. Wi-Fi is available. Please note that due to the mobile network connection, the quality is not always stable. The barge also has a beautiful sundeck, partially with awning. On nice evenings you can have diner over here and while cruising, you can enjoy the scenery.

Tour

After embarking around 2 pm, you will have plenty of time to explore the beautiful historic city of Maastricht, which was founded by the Romans. Sights you can visit include the treasury of St. Servaas Church, the Bonnefanten Museum of Contemporary Art and the casemates, an underground vault system that is part of an 18th century fortification. Another highlight is a visit to the marl caves. After dinner, you will have the opportunity to try out the bikes on a short bike tour.

During breakfast, the ship sails across the Juliana Canal to Born, where you disembark. From here you continue your bike tour across the Dutch-Belgian border to Maaseik, the hometown of the famous painters Hubert and Jan van Eyck. You will then continue to Thorn, also known as the "White Village" because of its whitewashed houses. Your destination today is Roermond, where the rivers Rur and Maas meet.

Your cycle tour today starts in Roermond. The tour first leads along the east bank of the Meuse to the beautiful village of Beesel, where the grain mill "De grauwe Beer" towers high on the river bank. Then you continue to the other side of the river to the village of Kessel. Around noon you reach Venlo with its many historical monuments and its lively city centre. In the afternoon you cycle to Arcen, a fortified town on the banks of the Meuse.

A fantastic bike tour awaits you today. First you pass the village of Well, home to one of the most beautiful moated castles in the Netherlands. Then you continue your tour through the Maasduinen National Park. In Cuijk you will meet your ship again. After dinner you have the opportunity to visit the Ceuclum Museum in Cuijk.

Today you continue your cycle tour along the Meuse, passing the villages of Grave and Ravenstein. In Grave you have the opportunity to see cannons from the Napoleonic era. In Oss you reboard your ship and continue your journey to the beautifully restored fortified town of Heusden. Dinner will be served at a restaurant of your choice in the town.

First the ship takes you to Gorinchem, a picturesque town on the banks of the river Waal. From there you continue your bike ride through the typical Dutch river landscape and arrive in Leerdam, a small town on the banks of the Linge. In the afternoon you continue your bike ride and reach Vianen.

During breakfast the ship continues its journey. Your cycle tour today starts in Breukelen and takes you along the picturesque river Vecht to Amsterdam. In Loenen you have the opportunity to visit a windmill. Your destination today is Amsterdam, where numerous activities await you.

In Amsterdam you reach the end of your journey, disembarkation takes place by 9.30 am, after which you start your individual journey home.

Itinerary and program changes:

The planned route is always subject to possible changes due to nautical, meteorological or organisational reasons. If, for example, a route cannot be travelled due to low water, high water, bad weather or construction work, the captain reserves the right to change the route for your safety. This is not a legally valid reason for cancelling the trip free of charge. The same applies in the event of officially ordered lock or bridge repairs or in the event of engine or propulsion damage to the ship through no fault of the captain.

As your ship usually sails to the next harbour on the same day, your time frame for your own activities and sightseeing is limited. On some bridges, the clearance height is so low that the sun deck is closed for your safety.

SGR Guaranteefund:

For this trip, there is a fee of 5.00 euros per traveller for the SGR guarantee fund. This fee is mandatory for this trip and will be shown separately on the invoice.
