Highlights

Ivrea
The old town of Ivrea, with a fortress, cathedral and bishop's palace, is picturesque on a hillside, and parts of the Gothic fortifications are still preserved. A walk up to the Old Town Hill is rewarded by the beautiful view from the Castello over the morainic landscape around Ivrea.

Turin
There's a whiff of Paris in Turin's elegant tree-lined boulevards and echoes of Vienna in its stately art nouveau cafes, but make no mistake - this elegant, Alp-fringed city is utterly self-possessed.

The Shroud of Turin
The Shroud of Turin is a linen sheet whose weave is a herringbone pattern made in the ancient Egypt manner before Christ. It measures 442 cm long by 113 cm high plus a 8 cm strip sewed lengthwise.

Museo delle Antichità Egizie
The Museo delle Antichità Egizie is the only museum other than the Cairo Museum that is dedicated solely to Egyptian art and culture.

Castello di Masino
The small town of Masino, near Lake Viverone, is surpassed by the imposing castle of the Adel dynasty Valperga: Castello di Masino. From the castle courtyard you can see the canyoning landscape of the Canavese, the Serra and the high mountain range that follows.

Viverone
Viverone is idyllically nestled between vineyards and inviting Lago di Viverone for bathing. The lake counts because of the ever-shallow and warm water and the most beautiful waterskiing and wakeboarding of Europe.
