Highlights

Passau
Three rivers from three directions - the Danube from the west, the Inn from the south and the Ilz from the north - make the landscape at the Dreiflüsseeck in Passau a unique beauty. In addition, there is the baroque old town, which was created by Italian masters in the 17th century and in the center of which there is the majestic St. Stephen's Cathedral with the largest cathedral organ in the world. Here charm and beauty, history and culture, art and experience go hand in hand.

St. Nikola
In the middle of the legendary Strudengau lies the old Schiffermarkt St. Nikola. Picturesquely embedded between forest-covered mountains and the river, this area is one of the most scenic parts of the Danube valley. Well-run restaurants and private pensions offer a delicious cuisine. Quiet forests and hiking trails invite to go on a hiking tour with a wonderful view over the Danube valley, castles and ruins.

Castle Aggstein
The Aggstein castle ruins are the remains of a castle on the right bank of the Danube in the Wachau, whose origins go back to the 12th century. The castle ruins are about 300 meters above the right bank of the Danube on a rock spur that runs in an east-west direction.

Krems
At the exit of the Wachau, one of the most beautiful sections of the Danube Valley, lies the lovely twin town of Krems-Stein. Krems an der Donau is worth a visit at any time of the year! Immerse yourself in the land on the Nibelungen.

Albertina, Vienna
The Albertina not only owns one of the largest and most valuable graphic collections in the world with works such as Dürer's “Feldhase” and Klimt's studies of women. Her new permanent collection presents modern masterpieces and thus spans the range from Monet to Picasso to Baselitz. As the largest Habsburg residential palace, the Albertina is enthroned at the southern tip of the Hofburg on one of the last bastion walls in Vienna.

Tour

Arrive early to Passau and look forward to a walk through the pretty "New Center" of the three-river city. Passau's center has been completely redesigned and now offers a wonderful car-free pedestrian zone. We definitely recommend a short tour of the cathedral with a concert on the largest church organ in the world (except on Sundays and public holidays).

You can take the Danube boat to Kasten. Then you cycle past the picturesque Engelszell Abbey, through the Schlögener Schlinge to Feldkirchen. On today's farm you will find orchards, chickens, rabbits and a cat who likes to be petted. Try the farm's own apple juice and go on an exciting excursion by rowing boat.

In the morning you cycle comfortably along the Danube to Ottensheim. Via train you arrive Linz. Enjoy a leisurely break in this bright green city and try the famous Linz cake. A visit to Kasperl & Seppy in the imaginative Linz puppet theater is a great experience, especially for children. Then you cycle on the Danube Cycle Path through the Machland to Mitterkirchen. Explore in the open-air museum "Keltendorf" what life was like a few thousand years ago. In your accomodation today, you can try the farm's own specialties such as goat cheese, fruit juices and home-baked bread. The children can end the day by playing on the climbing tower, sliding, swinging or petting goats.

Enjoy a cozy farm breakfast before you reach the charming town of Grein in a short drive. The pearl of the Strudengau invites you to linger with its long-established inns, pastry shops and the Biedermeier coffee house. Visit the imposing Greinburg Castle, which impresses with its knight's hall. The cyclist's farm is quickly reached. The children's playground and many petting animals will delight the children in the afternoon.

Today you cycle through Austria's most famous wine-growing region - the Wachau. Visit Melk, the “gateway to the Wachau”, and stroll through the city park with its modern playground. Enjoy a small wine tasting at one of the numerous wineries that are located along the Danube Cycle Path to Aggstein. At the foot of the legendary Aggstein mountain ruins, you will find today's cycling farm, which welcomes you with cats and chickens and the goats Flecki and Flocki. The farmers are happy to open their farm gates for you and let you participate in everyday farm life.

Visit the Aggstein castle ruins! You can expect a fabulous experience and a fantastic view of the Danube valley. We continue through the vineyards along the Danube to the well-known resort town of Spitz. The old wine-growing village invites you to linger with its Renaissance and Baroque houses and the wonderful square in front of the late Gothic church. Dürnstein, one of the most famous tourist destinations in Austria, is reached quickly. Take a break at the summer pool and one of the many playgrounds before the family wine farm welcomes you in Krems. In the afternoon, enjoy the quiet location between vineyards and orchards while the children play on the playground in the garden of the large property.

Look forward to this stage of your family bike tour along the Austrian Danube, which will take you to the metropolis of Vienna. After breakfast, stroll through the idyllic alleys and marvel at the impressive thousand-year history of Krems. Then take the train to Tulln. Visit the Roman Museum in the Marc Aurel Park, which shows life in the Roman camp in the period from 90 - 500 AD with many original finds, pictures, figures and models. Later you cycle comfortably to Vienna. Visit Schönbrunn Palace, St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Vienna Hofburg and enjoy a Fiaker tour or a ride on the 64.75 m high Ferris wheel in the Vienna Prater. A visit to one of the traditional coffee houses and the “Sacher” hotel, which is known for its famous Sachertorte, will sweeten your bike tour in the afternoon. Finally, you will spend the night in a modern hotel in Vienna.

Your exciting family bike tour along the Danube ends after breakfast. The return journey to Passau is by train in seasons 1 and 2 (transfer of own bikes not included) and in season 3 either by bus (transfer of own bikes included) or train (transfer of own bikes not included).

Would you like to stay longer? No problem, we will be happy to book additional nights in Vienna or Passau for you.
